Many other holistic therapies complement Acupuncture perfectly. I recommend another therapy when I feel a patient needs extra support or to investigate an underlying issue.

For example, there may be a suspected food intolerance that nutritional therapy can help with, or specific fears or anxiety that hypnotherapy can ease.

Each one of these practitioners is highly skilled and deeply knowledgeable about their area of expertise, and I recommend them with confidence.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

It’s a wonderful adjunct to acupuncture. The herbs support the flow of Qi in the body and help address any imbalances. I enjoy working with Alex Humphries for herbal medicine.

Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy blends nutrition science with behaviour change techniques, to help you make positive sustainable changes to your health through foods. I find that clients who aren’t eating well, or have ongoing problems with digestion or food sensitivities benefit greatly from seeing a Registered Nutritional Therapist.

Reg Nutritional Therapist Abby Foreman provides personalised nutrition support for a wide range of health issues including digestive health, auto immune conditions, and women’s hormonal issues.

Nutritional therapy can be helpful for supporting energy and wel-lbeing during cancer treatments: Clarissa Nolan is a cancer research nurse and nutrition practitioner specialising in this area.

Osteopathy

It’s a safe and effective manual therapy that uses soft tissue massage and gentle manipulation of the spine and joints to return the body to normal functioning. It works on the basis that structure affects function, and that any misalignments in the body can lead to pain and inflammation.

For more information contact Terri at Bodyworks Osteopathy.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy utilises the power of positive suggestion to relax the conscious mind and stimulate the subconscious, allowing us to break free from negative habits and emotions.

David Sear specialises in fears and phobias, stress and anxiety, and Gastric Band Therapy for weight loss – he offers a free initial consultation to see if hypnotherapy is right for you.

Fertility & conception

I see many clients for fertility support as acupuncture complements standard medical care and can be used alongside fertility medications and IVF treatments. The couples I see are keen to do everything they can to conceive which is where Balance Fertility can help. The team at Balance Fertility offer online courses and consultations to help with understanding and investigating fertility issues and have many years of experience and success.

Physiotherapy

equips clients with the exercises and movement techniques they need to manage all kinds of muscle and joint problems and recover from injuries.  Atlas Physiotherapy provide a wide range of physio techniques and offer a free initial health assessment.

Practising yoga is a wonderful way build your strength, flexibility, and resilience – both mentally and physically.  You don’t have to wear Lycra and bend yourself into awkward positions; yoga can be gentle and fun and easy to learn! I highly recommend Joanne’s classes and workshops.  Joanne is trained in Transformational Yoga which blends influences of Hatha, Kundalini and Raj yoga, and practises Transformational meditation and Reiki.

Acupuncture around the world!

I am fortunate to be part of a global community of Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturists living and working in many different countries.  You can find British Acupuncture Council members via the BAcC website search facility – you’ll be amazed at how many of us there are! And if you happen to visit Barcelona, I can recommend my colleagues Tania Spearman and Alba Riba.

Professional Associations

I am a full member of The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the leading self-regulatory body for the practice of Traditional Acupuncture in the UK.  The BAcC is registered with the Professional Standards Authority, which allows GPs to refer their patients to us for treatments if NHS funding is available.

Back pain is one of the leading causes of disability in the UK.  Acupuncture is shown to be highly effective at relieving back and neck pain, and I am a registered provider with the national charity Backcare.  Backcare was founded in 1968 to provide information, guidance, and advice to anyone suffering with back pain.

Anxiety UK is the leading charity offering support to people living with anxiety and phobias.  I am registered with them as an Approved Therapist, providing acupuncture as an effective and drug-free way of managing anxiety and supporting mental health. Stop Smoking UK provide Addiction Management for people wanting to stop smoking.  I work as a Partner Therapist with this organisation, helping people quit their smoking habit for good. The Stop Smoking UK programme includes 3 separate acupuncture sessions, with telephone counselling in-between the sessions to address all your smoking cessation issues.
