Natural Pain Relief from Inflammatory Conditions

Relieve pain inflammatory conditions naturally | Acupuncture in YorkIf you’re currently struggling with a painful, inflammatory condition you are not alone: chronic pain affects around 8 million people a year here in the UK.

According to the 2010 Chronic Pain Policy almost £4 billion is spent each year on incapacity benefits for sufferers of persistent pain.

Standard healthcare has little to offer in terms of effective treatments for pain and inflammation.  The list of side effects for Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Ibuprofen is extensive and severe with many drugs irritating the lining of the digestive tract, leading to the development of ulcers and bleeding.

So what are the natural alternatives for pain relief?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture is profoundly effective for managing pain and inflammation.  Look at what one of my clients has to say:

Thank you Tiziana for once again relieving me of the tremendous back pain I was suffering.

I started with lower back pain which I put with for a couple of weeks, but as it got worse I started to take painkillers. Then I even had a course of six acupuncture treatments from another local acupuncturist but it made no difference.

So I contacted Tiziana to see if she could fit me in as I know she is so busy. Because by that time I could barely get out of bed as I was in so much pain. She managed to see me quickly, which was great because she had helped me in the past, and the doctors had not helped me at all, even made me feel worse making me feel sick with really strong painkillers.

After only one treatment with Tiziana I felt so much better. But I had put up with it too long, and let it get too bad. So I needed to have another treatment.

Now I feel so much better, and I am back at work and best of all I am without pain!

How does Acupuncture relieve inflammation & pain?

Pain and inflammation is viewed in Chinese Medicine as blockages in your Qi or vital energy.  Once these blocks are removed and the Qi can flow smoothly, circulation is improved and healing takes place. Acupuncture offers a method of natural pain relief from inflammatory conditions.

Acupuncture works to relieve pain from inflammatory conditions by;

  • Triggering the release of your own innate pain-killing chemicals called endorphins
  • Stimulating reflexes in the areas of your brain known to reduce sensitivity to pain and stress, thereby easing not only the pain, but the tension and anxiety that accompanies it
  • Promoting the release of natural anti-inflammatory chemicals in the body
  • Relaxing muscles
  • Interrupting pain signals

More natural pain relief for inflammatory conditions

Alongside my TCM Acupuncture treatments I like to advise clients about simple dietary steps they can take to alleviate pain and inflammation too.  These include;

  • Drinking plenty of filtered water (at least 1.5l per day) and enjoying herbal teas that have natural anti-inflammatory properties such as chamomile, meadowsweet (do not use if allergic to aspirin) and ginger
  • Including oily fish 2-3 times per week for the anti-inflammatory omega-3 oils: salmon, sardines, mackerel, pilchards and fresh tuna are all good choices
  • Cutting back on refined processed sugar laden foods that inhibit healing and repair
  • Enjoying a rainbow of brightly coloured vegetables and fruits each day for the natural phytonutrients and antioxidants that help manage inflammation

Don’t struggle in silence with pain. Regain your mobility, flexibility and vitality!
