You may have tried pills, ice packs and hot packs for pain management but do they really give you lasting relief?
Back Pain – Migraines – Headaches – Neck Pain – Arthritis – Knee Pain
Would you like a relaxing and safe approach to relieving the aches and pains that just won’t go away?
York Traditional Acupuncture provides Chinese medicine acupuncture that helps ease the pain.
In a recent review of the research on acupuncture, the British Acupuncture Council states that Acupuncture may be effective in providing pain relief because it stimulates the release of endorphins. There are generally no side effects because no chemicals or artificial substances are used at all. And it’s long lasting because Chinese Medicine aims to target the root cause of your condition, rather than merely masking the symptoms.
Acupuncture can be very effective for easing a wide variety of pain ailments, ranging from back pain, sciatica, headaches, migraines, sinus pain, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, joint pain, tennis elbow, neck and shoulder pain, period-pain etc.
In Chinese Medicine, it is said that when “the Qi (vital energy) is stuck, there is pain. When the Qi flows freely, there is no pain”. So, from the Chinese Medicine point of view, acupuncture eases pain by promoting the free flow of Qi in the body.
From a Western medical perspective, acupuncture helps ease pain by:
• increasing blood circulation to the affected areas
• stimulating the release of endorphins (the body’s own natural pain-killers)
• stimulating the release of neurotransmitters such as serotonin
• relaxing the muscles
• strengthening the immune system
• interrupting the transmission of pain (Gate theory)
What my clients are saying about acupuncture for pain management and relief…
I have been receiving treatment from Tiziana for a trapped nerve in my neck/back for almost 3 years on and off. Her acupuncture treatments have been the most effective treatment I have received during this time for my condition. When I first started treatment I was definitely a lot less mobile terms of neck on my back and often suffered with pain when I pushed my body even a bit. I am glad to say that it takes a lot more to cause me any pain though I still suffer from discomfort and heat related to the trapped nerve. But as I said that is no judgement on the treatment I have received which has been excellent and the biggest and biggest improvements have been achieved with acupuncture. This has definitely improved my life and enabled me to do more in it. While I still look for a final solution to my problem Tiziana and acupuncture have been the biggest contributor to the improvement in my health so far. I would highly recommend this service as it is of the highest quality.

Decades ago, I had two serious accidents with spinal column injuries. Once on the lumbar vertebrae, once on the cervical vertebrae. After several series of very long and delicate surgeries my surgeons implanted two prostheses. One “on top”, the other “on bottom”. Needless to say, pain has become a daily companion since a long time ago. Before coming to York, I had lived and worked in many countries. And “frequented” acupuncturists there. I know good ones, even excellent ones. But Tiziana is out of category, she is a magician!
