Are you one of the 80% of UK adults suffering with back pain?
Do you rely on painkillers to make it through the day?
Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture may have the answer!
Back pain costs the NHS over £1 million each year and is the cause of countless absences from work, costing the economy even more. Stress, poor posture, lack of exercise and sleeping on an old mattress are some of the most common causes of back pain and many sufferers say the pain makes them feel older than their years.
This month the British Acupuncture Council launched a new campaign to raise awareness of the success Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture has in relieving back pain. The ‘Back to Health’ campaign aims to encourage people to opt for TCM Acupuncture as a natural alternative to strong painkillers in managing their back complaints.
Back pain is one of the most common ailments I see in Clinic. A lot of clients are also suffering with stress and are overweight – both of which contribute hugely to their back discomfort.
Because my treatments are holistic I am able to work on all these aspects: stimulating circulation and the release of natural painkilling endorphins, bringing a sense of calm and supporting their bodies to let go of excess weight.
This is what one satisfied client had to say…
“I began seeing Tiziana for back pain following a car accident and began to notice a marked improvement after just 3 sessions. After a full 6 sessions I was virtually pain free and able to do so much more physically than I was before. Through Tiziana’s in-depth knowledge and commitment to getting to know you and your body, she knew that I have struggled with my weight for many years and has also helped me in this area.”
The normal length of a treatment plan is 6 sessions, though some clients need longer, particularly if the problem is deeply entrenched and long-standing.
TCM Acupuncture is proven to stimulate the release of our natural endorphins – chemicals in our bodies that relieve pain and bring about a sense of calm and wellbeing. This is fantastic for back pain sufferers who are used to relying on strong painkillers on a daily basis. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen and Naproxen have nasty side-effects when used frequently, damaging the lining of the stomach and increasing the risk of gastric and duodenal ulcers.
